The Power of Sticky Notes

It’s hard to believe that the multi functional, super practical, highly attractive adhesive square piece of paper sitting next to you on your desk is the power of the future in your office. Well, we are about to make you believe it!

Sticky notes are known to be a handy accessory for use around the workplace or at home to share thoughts and ideas. They’re great for making a note of a number whilst on the phone or leaving a message for other staff members when you’re off to a meeting. This is normally as interesting as Sticky Notes get, but not anymore! We have put together a step by step guide to using Sticky Notes in fun and practical ways.

We have a whole range of promotional sticky notes in all shapes, sizes and colours. There is everything from completely bespoke shapes like cars or animals, to your everyday standard rectangular piece. Whatever you’re looking for we have the perfect option to ensure your logo is on full display!

Throughout this guide you may stumble across some weird and wonderful ways that you will be surprised to hear about, these are normally the best ones to take part in. All you need is yourself and your sticky notes! Oh and you might need a pen across the way too!

 1. Colour Coordinated Plans/Schedules

Sticky Notes can be used in the office to create a plan to help staff keep track of important dates and things they need to do. For example, if there are green sticky notes, pink sticky notes and orange sticky notes, each staff member can delegate themselves a pack of one colour of sticky notes. Their pack can now be used to stick onto a grid on the wall which will ensure other staff know when colleagues are leaving for meetings or have booked afternoons off. Once the day is completed, the person responsible can tear down their note.

  • You can make a plan of who has meetings throughout the week colour coordinated so each staff member can have there own colour.
  • Using sticky notes means you can easily chop and change things around, if meeting dates change or are cancelled you just simple remove from the grid and replace in the position where it’s necessary.
  • We recommend using our Promotional Coloured Sticky Notes. They offer a great space for your branding  as well as enough space for making detailed notes.

 2. Labelling Products Around The office

Labelling products has always been a good way to keep organised and salvage some of the hours you would normally spend browsing through stuff trying to find what you’re looking for. Using sticky notes is a great alternative to your standard sticker, as you can pick it up and move it around if needs be. For example, if you’re like us and like to be particular with people taking your food out of the communal work fridge, by using a sticky note you can write your name on it to ensure that no one else gets there hands on it. And the great thing is you can peel it off and do stick it on whatever is for lunch tomorrow!

  • You could stick a label on side of folders to help you find what you’re looking for
  • Sticky Notes can be used to label your possessions that could be mistaken as somebody else’s.
  • We recommend using our Standard Sticky Notes to label your food in the fridge. They are low cost and offer enough space to write your name and the date.

 3. Marking pages in your book

Sticky notes are a great alternative to your standard bookmark. Whether your learning about new tactics to growing your business or just reading your favourite novelty book, by using a sticky note to mark your page you’re opening up your memory to not only remember what page you left of on, but also due to the paper surface, to also write important notes on the passage you just read.

As well as your standard square sticky note we also have the flag style notes which are available in a variety of colours so you can place certain colours over certain pages. This works great if you delegate a certain colour to a typical cause. For example, if all your blue sticky notes tagged pages contained information about SEO but all your orange tagged pages were filled with information about marketing techniques, when it comes to putting your knowledge into action you wont have to spend hours flicking through pages trying to find the one you’re looking for.

  • We recommend using our Bookmark Sticky Notes for keeping track of your pages. These offer loads of different styles of sticky notes so multiple pages can be in focus.

 4. Desk Cleaning

You didn’t expect this one did you! It often goes unnoticed that your sticky notes could be the next best thing to wipe down your desk.

Keyboards often gain little pieces of fluff, dirt and crumbs in the grooves of the keys, there is only a few devices that are thin enough to fit in-between them and retrieve the mess, and a sticky note are one of them!

Additionally, the strip of adhesive paper normally at the top of your sticky note, can be used to collect dirt from over your desk that are too small to be picked up by hand. Give it a try, you might be surprised with how much dirt has built up behind your keyboard!

  • We recommend using our Midi Sticky Note Blocks for cleaning your desk as they fold up to an ideal size to fit perfectly in-between keys.

 4. Team Building Exercises

When someone new joins the office it’s important to make sure they feel welcome. You can encourage a blissful welcoming through team building exercises. These are great to break the ice to ensure they are happy in the workplace. Here are a few of our favourite exercises:

  • Sticky Notes; Who Am I? The game we all know and love! This game works by a college writing a word (any word they like e.g. animal names or favourite countries) in the centre of a coloured sticky note and then placing it on your forehead. From here you are allowed to ask 20 yes or no questions, to which your colleagues and friends will respond to until you are able to guess the word thats on your forehead!
  • Sticky Notes: Pass The Parcel: Our favourite party game, but with a twist! With this game the rules don’t entirely change to your regular game of pass the parcel, the same procedure apply’s, you still pass something around, but instead of a parcel you can use a pack of sticky notes. Each person that is holding the notes when the music stops is allowed to pull a page of, until the last past page. Whoever is holding the remainder page is entitled to a treat! This could be a pack of goodies or even a get free card to leave early!
  • We recommend using our A7 Sticky Notes for team building exercises as they are a universal size that can not only fit on foreheads but also contain enough sheets for a game of pass the sticky note!
